Bridging diverse research and mental health resources for a better community

Mission

Our mission is to bring together diverse resources, from basic and translational science to mental health and lifestyle theory and practices, to enhance the mental well-being of our community.

Our goal is to provide a mechanism for cross-fertilization of ideas, findings, and implementations to aid the development of a meaningful life and sustained mental balance for students, faculty, staff, and the broader community.

Science

Scientific inquiries into what it means to be “happy” — to live a well-lived life filled with meaning, purpose, and connection — have gained considerable traction in recent years. These inquiries span the range from basic neuroscience and positive psychology to therapeutic and educational practices. These scientific findings inform and guide how we may implement intentions toward a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Practice

Implementing what one knows into a consistent practice is a key component of well-being. It is only through the act of “doing” that one can progress. Learning what to do, how to do it, and the consistent practice of “doing” are the keys to improving well-being. By bringing together science with practice, we hope to provide an opportunity for improving outcomes for our community.

Instruction

Through educational instruction (seminars, workshops, classes) we seek to provide both the knowledge and the practice of mental well-being. We hope to provide not only the theory, but also the tools, to lead a better life, filled with positive and skillful engagement and connection.

Community

Community is the key component to both our individual and collective success and happiness. By providing opportunities for the diverse members of our community to interact with and learn from each other, we will foster collective growth in the science and practice of well-being.
